I've ordered a pair of SCM40 passives (which will take several months to show up I am told) so at some time in the later half of the year I will be able to compare these two speakers side by side.

I personally feel that the WB sounds cleaner but not always in a good way while the ATC sounds a little more full and has that very nice, almost enveloping, mid range performance.

While both speaker companies are English and both make their own drivers WB seems to put a great deal of weight into the design and construction of the box (using aluminium and carbon fibre which really jacks up the construction and materials price) while ATC are quite happy to continue using MDF (which should mean their construction costs would be similar to most other speaker companies out there). I also have a pair of the WB Discovery stand mounts (series 1) and like them quite a bit too.
